Electric wheelchair from Roltec
About Roltec
Roltec is a Danish company that develops, produces, and sells electric wheelchairs.
The product range is extensive and includes wheelchairs for both indoor and outdoor use with various types of propulsion, size, weight, comfort, and features.
The wheelchairs are designed with modular mechanical and electronic components, allowing technicians and others with technical expertise to perform repairs and customize the wheelchairs according to the specific needs of individual users.
Project description
Electric wheelchairs are usually equipped with an electric motor that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. This drives the wheelchair forward, backward, or in other directions depending on the design and configuration.
For Roltec wheelchairs, GCM has developed a custom-made gear motor and a specially designed flat gear to get the wheelchair in motion. The gear motor is equipped with a built-in brake for optimized safety. The motor and gear solution is custom-tailored to the user’s weight, the size of the wheelchair, and the terrain on which the wheelchair is used.
This requires a relatively powerful gear motor with high efficiency and a long lifespan, capable of pulling both the wheelchair and the wheelchair user.
Selected Roltec electric wheelchairs feature an electric lift/tilt system that allows for adjustment of the seat height and tilting the wheelchair up to 50 degrees to rest the back, among other things. This lift/tilt system consists of a gear motor with or without an encoder, developed by GCM. The solution ensures a smooth and safe movement.
Developed by GCM
GCM has developed a special gear motor with brake, along with a specially designed flat gear, which enables the wheelchair to move. In addition, we have developed a gear motor with and without an encoder for the lifting and tilting system, which allows for seat height adjustment and a tilting mechanism of up to 50 degrees.
