Stepper motors consist of electromagnets centered around a shaft that alternately receive voltage. A stepper motor typically has 50 to 100 electrical poles that are activated in steps. A full rotation is thus divided into a series of steps – hence the name ‘step’ motor. This stepwise constant motion means that a stepper motor is often controlled by <\/span>open-loop, thus eliminating the cost and complexity of an <\/span>encoder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    The stepper motor controllers from German miControl are particularly suitable for stepper motors with speed control and positioning. The devices are easy to configure and program and can be used for CANopen, PROFIBUS DP, EtherCAT and Modbus RTU protocols. The stepper motor controllers also have a built-in MPU (Motion Process Unit), which allows instructions to be stored without the need for an external PLC.<\/p>\n
